MOORE, Oklahoma – In a game that was close for most of the night, the Southmoore Sabercats pulled away late in a 49-27 victory over the Westmoore Jaguars.
Southmoore (2-0) trailed 27-21 as the fourth quarter began, but Tre Edwards broke a 27-yard touchdown less than one minute into the frame to take a 28-27 lead. The score stayed that way until there were four minutes left, when the Sabercats broke free.
Andrew Long scored a short rushing touchdown with 3:54 left, the first of three touchdowns Southmoore scored in the game’s final four minutes. Edwards scored another rushing touchdown, and Edward Tucker added a defensive touchdown to make the final score seem much more lopsided than the game actually was.
Southmoore has now scored more than 40 points in each of its first two games of the season and will face Moore (0-2) next week. Westmoore (1-1) will take on Norman North (0-2) in its next game.
