PUTNAM CITY, Oklahoma -- The Putnam City Pirates faced their rivals in their season-opening game, beating the Putnam City North Panthers 16-7.

It was pure “Putnamonium” Friday night, as the crowd passionately cheered on their respective teams. PCO’s quarterback Caleb Lee connected with wide receiver T.J. O’Neil, setting up a touchdown pass on the next play to Carson Lynn for the Pirates’ first score.

Putnam City North answered back when running back Sam Wolfe gained some considerable yardage for the Panthers. Quarterback Jace James’ pass to Covin Conrady tied the game 7-7 at half. Putnam City Original would pull ahead, beating Putnam City North.

The Pirates play Putnam City West in week 2, while the Panthers will face Mustang.
