TULSA, Oklahoma – Holland Hall ended Cascia Hall’s 41-game winning streak with a 34-27 victory at Cascia Hall on Friday night. The loss also prevented the Commandos from tying the Oklahoma 11-man football record for consecutive victories.
The Dutch used an early touchdown and a strong defensive performance to jump out to a 7-3 lead. Cascia Hall appeared to have the momentum heading into the half after cutting the Dutch lead to 7-6 with a field goal. However, a big kickoff return by Kwame Sexton set up another Holland Hall field goal and the Dutch went into the half with a 10-6 lead.
Holland Hall extended its lead to 27-6 and led by 14 points late in the fourth quarter, but a late touchdown by the Commandos and an onside kick made things interesting. Cascia Hall moved into Dutch territory, buta desperation heavewas knocked down.
With the victory, Holland Hall moves to 2-0, while the Commandos fall to 0-1. Ada still holds the 11-man state record for consecutive victories with 42.
The Dutch will host Victory Christian (1-0) next week, while Cascia Hall tries to get back on track at Glenpool (1-0).
