OKLAHOMA CITY – Northeast Academy went 1-9 last season, but an entire returning defense and a new offensive strategy give the Vikings hope for 2010.
The Vikings return everyone on the defensive side and plan on slowing the game down this season.
Coach Tim Thomas said changes on offense to go along with a solid defense gives the Vikings a good game plan.
“We’ve had our struggles at Northeast, but we’re making some changes at what we’re going to do,” he said. “We’ve been more spread-oriented in the past but we’re going to be more run oriented with a little bit of option.”
Thomas said running the clock and making games low scoring will work to the Vikings’ advantage.
“They understand that throwing the ball as much as we did last year kills the clock a lot and makes the game longer, so we’re just trying to shorten it down a little bit and give ourselves a fighting chance.”
