SHAWNEE, Oklahoma -- Tyler Brown did all he could to throw a perfect game for the Berryhill Chiefs. The Senior pitcher was flawless, no-hitting Fort Gibson en route to a 1-0 victory in the Class 4A semifinals Saturday. It was Brown's third no-hitter of the season.
The Chiefs finished with four errors and their last one almost cost them the victory. In the bottom of the seventh Andrew Arnold hit a grounder which went through the legs of the Chiefs third baseman. The junior ended up at second base on the error with two outs in the inning.
Brown did not let the error affect his pitching, he struck out Dean Igert to end the game. Brown finished with 12 strikeouts.
Berryhills' only run arrived in the top of the third on a wild pitch, scoring Jake Anderson.
Berryhill will try to win its first state title in baseball since 2007. The Chiefs will play Weatherford Monday at 4:00 p.m. in Shawnee.
