TULSA, Oklahoma -- Broken Arrow assistant football coach Danny Phillips will be the new head coach at Tulsa Central High School, according to an Oklahoma Sports source.
Phillips, a Marlow, Oklahoma native, is a former Co-Defensive Coordinator at the University of Tulsa and was a longtime assistant with TU Head Coach Todd Graham at West Virginia, Rice and Allen (Texas) High School.
Phillips replaces Corey Russell, who left Tulsa Central in February to become the head coach at Idabel High School.
Russell orchestrated a quick turnaround in three seasons at Central, leading the Braves to their first playoff appearance since 2003.
Phillips played college football for Southeastern Oklahoma State and graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1993 with a degree in education.
