NOWATA, Oklahoma -- It has been a busy week for Nowata’s Austin Beck. The Ironmen lineman made two visits on his spring break and received a scholarship offer from another.
Beck visited Illinois Monday and Tuesday, and returned from his visit to Arkansas Friday. While interest in the 6-foot-8, 300-pounder is picking up, his list is starting to take shape.
“I’d say Arkansas is the team to beat right now,” Beck said. “I’ve never seen anything like that. I felt at home. I don’t know if this is the right school; I’m not for sure right now, but it just seems pretty cool. I like it.”
Beck said he toured the facilities and met several Razorback coaches and players during his time in Fayetteville. But his visit did have an awkward moment.
“I met the quarterback,” Beck said. “I watched him on TV but I didn’t know who he was. I was shocked I didn’t recognize him. I was like ‘what’s your name,’ and he was like ‘come on you know my name.’ We laughed about it.”
To top off the week, he also received a letter from Missouri offering him a scholarship. Beck said he plans to take a trip to Columbia and Nebraska around Memorial Day. He holds offers Tulsa, Illinois and Baylor as well. Beck will most likely play offensive tackle at the next level.
