TULSA, Oklahoma – Cameron Downing scored 31 points for Memorial as the Chargers beat Lawton MacArthur 59-45 to earn a 5A state semifinal berth.
The Highlanders stunned the Chargers in the opening minutes by jumping out to an 11-2 lead.
Memorial responded by going inside to Downing, who scored 10 points in the first quarter and helped the Chargers take a 14-13 lead by the end of the period.
Downing and Memorial continued their dominance in the second quarter and built a 31-19 lead by the break. The Chargers would maintain that lead in the second half and hold on for the victory.
Rileigh Linville led the way for the Highlanders with 13 points.
Memorial will play Claremore at the Mabee Center on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
