NORMAN, Oklahoma -- The Garber boys defeated Thomas-Fay-Custer 39-21 in the quarterfinals of the Class A state tournament at Norman High School.
The Wolverines led 8-7 after the first quarter. The Terriers respond by scoring the first six points in the second quarter to take a 13-8 lead. Tyler Miller hit four free throws in the second quarter to help the Wolverines take a 14-13 lead into the locker room.
Miller opened up the second half with a 3-pointer and the Wolverines never looked back, leading by as many as 12 points in the third quarter. Garber outscored Thomas 12-4 in the third quarter and 25-8 in the second half.
All 13 of Garbers' points in the fourth quarter came from the free-throw line.
Miller led all scorers with 20 points; he finished 13-of-16 from the free-throw line.
Jason Miller paced the Terriers with 10 points.
Garber improves to 24-2 and will face Fort Towson in the Class A Boys semifinals Friday night at 9:00 p.m. at the State Fair Arena.
Thomas closes out the year with a 20-9 record.
