EDMOND, Oklahoma – Defending state champion Del City started the regional playoffs with a 66-44 victory over Choctaw Thursday.
Del City wasted no time building a big lead and held a 39-19 advantage at halftime. Choctaw kept up in the second half but could not claw back from its big deficit.
Rukiya Turner led all scorers with 15 points for Del City, and Toni Smith added 10. Layton Hurley led Choctaw with 13, and Janelle Wright scored 12.
Del City will now move on to face Edmond North in the regional finals at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
