COWETA, Oklahoma – After going down with leg cramps in the fourth quarter, Coweta senior Katy Harsen returned to lead her team to a dramatic 68-65 overtime win. Harsen scored 37 points to down the Talequah Lady Tigers on Senior Night.
Trailing 25-17 at the half, Coweta got hot from the field. The Lady Tigers cut their halftime deficit to three points.
Kaley McNeil shined for Tahlequah. The senior led the Lady Tigers with 21 points and helped push her team back ahead to start the fourth quarter. McNeil got every important rebound for her team down the stretch as well.
After a steal and full court sprint, Harsen went down after hitting a layup with a cramp in her left calf. The Lady Tigers’ star stayed down on the floor for a few minutes trying to work out the pain. She was finally able to get to her feet and make it to the bench where the team trainer worked on her leg.
Trailing by three with less than two minutes to play in the fourth quarter, Coweta hit a free throw to cut the lead to two. Harsen reentered the game and was fouled with five seconds remaining. She hit both of her free throws to send the game to extra time.
Harsen got help from her teammates late in the game. Katlyn Duncan scored seven points in the fourth quarter and overtime. Chianne Ivy hit three clutch free throws to seal the game for Coweta.
Gentry Blankenship scored 17 points for Tahlequah. Erica Sampson added 17.
