Oklahoma City -- The victory march couldn’t be any better for the Douglass boys basketball Team. The Trojans have battled 22 opponents this season and they’ve won each and every one of them; a perfect 22-0 entering the post season in Class 4A.
“Our goal is to win a state championship, it doesn’t matter what your record is,” head coach Terry Long said.
The Trojans haven’t been shy when it comes to scheduling. They started the season with a pair of victories against Dallas area teams and their resume also includes multiple wins over Class 5A and Class 6A schools in Oklahoma.
The Gold Ball has been within Douglass’s reach since Coach Long took over in 2000. During his tenure the Trojans have been the state runner-up twice. Last year, they lost to Star Spencer in the semifinals.
If you ask the players and coaches, the wait has been too long.1989 was the last time the Trojans captured a Gold Ball in basketball.
