OKLAHOMA CITY -- Putnam City West high school has forfeited five wins from the beginning of the season after playing with an ineligible player.
The player in question was ruled ineligible for nine games last season but still participated, and according to his punishment, had to sit out the first nine games of this season. The Patriots lost two of those games, so the OSSAA was left to decide on seven contests.
“Out of those seven, two were blowout wins so now we’re down to five wins,” said OSSAA Executive Secretary Ed Sheakley. “We felt that he was an impact player in those five games.”
The five games were against Putnam City, Choctaw, Yukon, Del City and Putnam City North.
The unidentified player will remain ineligible until he sits out nine games.
