TULSA, Oklahoma – Edmond Sante Fe impressed again, beating Booker T. Washington 55-42 in the semifinal round of the Jenks/Union 2010 Invitational Friday night.
The state’s top-ranked team struggled in the first quarter against Washington’s ball movement. The Hornets were able to swing the ball to the open shooter for a jump shot or drive to the basket and converted two ‘and one’ scores in the first quarter. The Hornets led 14-12 after the first eight minutes.
The Wolves got hot in the second quarter. Three Sante Fe stars scored in double figures. Maholn Jones, Aaron Anderson and Josh Richards combined for 33 points in the win.
Tharone Chilton scored a game-high 16 points for Booker T. Washington. The Hornets are winless when scoring 55 points or less this season.
Edmond Santa Fe advances to Saturday’s championship game against the East Central Cardinals. Tip-time is set for 8:30 p.m. at Jenks High School’s Frank Herald Gym.
