OKLAHOMA – Five of the state’s top high school football players will play in showcase games this weekend, two of which can be seen on national television.
Saturday morning in St. Petersburg, Fla., Demarco Cobbs will take the field for Team Blur in the Under Armour All American Game at Tropicana Field. That game can be seen at 10 a.m. on ESPN. Cobbs, a dual-threat quarterback for the Tulsa Central Braves, will play wide receiver in the game. Cobbs, who will wear No. 10, is the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year in Oklahoma.
Future Oklahoma Sooner quarterback Blake Bell will be throwing passes to Cobbs on Team Blur. Bell is expected to enroll at OU in the spring and could challenge Landry Jones for playing time in 2010.
Following that game, Booker T. Washington standout defensive tackle Calvin Barnett will play in the annual U.S. Army All American game on Saturday at 12 p.m. on NBC. The game will be played in San Antonio's Alamodome. Barnett will wear No. 64 and play for the West team.
Also on Saturday, Mustang offensive lineman Bronson Irwin and Sequoyah-Tahlequah defensive lineman Chris Littlehead will play for the West team in the Offense-Defense All American game in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. That game will start at 4 p.m., but will not be televised.
