TULSA, Oklahoma -- After narrowly beating Memorial in the second round, Putnam City had no problem winning the Tournament of Champions as the Pirates crushed Booker T. Washington in the championship, 70-47.
Putnam City ran away with the game from the opening tip, jumping out to a 20-4 lead in the first quarter. Dominique Raney scored 12 of those 20 points and finished with a game-high 25. Booker T. Washington’s Tharone Chilton was right behind him in the scoring column with 23. With the loss, Booker T. Washington finishes runner-up for the second straight year.
In the 3rd place game, Memorial rebounded from its heartbreaking second round loss by beating Tahlequah Sequoyah, 57-51. CJ Wells was the leading scorer for the Chargers, finishing with 16. Travis Sanders and Terran Pettit scored 14 for the Indians.
In the 5th place game, Muskogee improved to 6-2 with a 63-54 win over Garber. Oren Faulk and Jerome Beasley each scored 12 points for the Roughers. The Wolverines were led by Hayden Vencl, who poured in a game-high 15.
Pawnee won the 7th place game by knocking off Roff 56-39. Tate Beer scored a game-high 20 points for the Black Bears and Dylan Lemley dropped in 14 for the Tigers. Pawnee only led by two points at the end of the third quarter, but clutch free throw shooting helped the Black Bears pull away.
