TULSA, Oklahoma -- Bishop Kelley won the Kelley Classic and avenged a one-point loss to Bishop McGuinness with a 58-54 victory over the Irish on Saturday night.
Jack Cameron finished with a game-high 21 points for the Comets and Joe Dowdell added 15.
Matthew Christiansen had 19 points for McGuinness. Jameel Whitney and Joe Edmonds also reached double digits with 16 and 10 respectively.
Earlier this week in a regular season contest, McGuinness and Kelley added a classic to their rivalry when the Irish edged the Comets 40-39. With both teams on opposite sides of the tournament bracket, a championship rematch looked likely and neither team disappointed. The Comets outlasted Altus and cruised by Hale 79-62, while McGuinness took down Skiatook and Cascia Hall.
Despite playing three games in as many days, both teams battled to the end. The Irish and Comets traded baskets in the first half and Bishop McGuinness went into the half up by one point.
After a going into the fourth quarter tied, Kelley outlasted McGuinness down the stretch.
The Comets will look to build upon their tournament victory when they return to the court on Tuesday for a home contest with Tahlequah.
