BIXBY, Oklahoma – The Metro Christian boys basketball team failed to make it to the championship round of the Bixby Invitational after falling 62-47 to Springdale.
The Patriots fell behind by as many as 17 in the second half, and couldn’t find a way to stop the Bulldogs on offense. Shelton Baird led Springdale with 26 points.
Metro Christian cut the Bulldogs’ lead to ten with a pair of three pointers late in the fourth quarter, but back-to-back wide open layups by the Bulldogs sealed a win for Brad Stamps’ team.
The Patriots got into early foul trouble after two players picked up technical fouls. Three players finished the game in double-figures, but the Patriots couldn’t make the push they needed in the second half.
Springdale got 12 points from T.J. Andrews and nine points from Tony Dennis. They will take on the Union Redskins in Saturday’s championship game.
The Patriots move into the third-place game before Union and Springdale. They will play Springdale Her-Ber at 7 p.m.
