BIXBY, Oklahoma – The Union Redskins won for the second day in a row in the Bixby Invitational. The Redskins took down the Springdale Har-Ber Wildcats 50-43 behind 11 points from Quawan Carter.
The Redskins led Har-Ber most of the game. The fourth quarter saw a late push from the Wildcats fall short thanks to some great defensive plays.
Brice Brown came up with a key block for Union that set up a fast break layup to give the Redskins a six-point lead inside of four minutes to play in the game.
Still up six, with less than twenty seconds to go, Carter made the biggest play of the night, stealing the ball from Har-Ber’s Nac Williams before the point guard could launch a three-pointer.
Matt Toomer and Chris Bayles both scored in double digits for the Wildcats. Jason Holmstrom scored nine points.
Union got 12 points from junior guard Stephon Weaver and seven points from both Brown and Tim Abraham.
Union’s seven-point win sets up a championship showdown with Springdale (AR) on Saturday at 8:30 p.m.
