TULSA, Oklahoma -- Sixteen of Oklahoma’s top boys and girls high school basketball teams tipped off in the Bixby Invitational Thursday. The opener featured a couple of impressive offensive performances.
Quawan Carter scored 14 for Union and Jacob Fish countered with 17 for Glenpool in a 61-49 Redskins win. The Warriors led at halftime but the Redskins battled back in the second half.
Carter got help from Gabe Osifeso and J.C. Hartzler. The duo combined for a couple of fastbreak baskets to keep Union’s lead intact. The Warriors had plenty of chances down the stretch to tie or take the lead, but couldn’t find a way to convert in the paint.
Carter scored six straight points to build the Redskins’ lead to double-digits before leaving to a flurry of high-fives from his teammates inside one minute to play.
Brice Brown scored 13 points for Union in the win. Derek Allen scored six points for the Warriors.
