Not that anyone's counting, but for the 14th straight year either Jenks or Union will win the gold ball in 6A

It is also the seventh time in 12 seasons the two east side powers will meet in the championship.

Ironically, three of the last four times they've met in the playoffs, the backyard bowl loser has gone on to win the title.

Jenks narrowly beat Union 27-25 in the regular season.

Over in 5A, it is another case of odd year success for Bixby.

The Spartans have been in the title game in 2005 and 2007 but failed to win the gold ball both years.

Meanwhile, their opponent Carl Albert fell to Booker T. Washington in last year's state title game and is looking for its fifth championship this decade...

4A features an all-westside match-up between Star Spencer and Douglass.

The Trojans are looking for its first title since 1976, while a Bobcats win would give Star Spencer its first championship in school history.

Cascia Hall will take a 40 game winning streak and will be looking for its third consecutive gold ball against Berryhill.

It's the second consecutive year that two teams from 3A district 3 are playing in the title game.
