TULSA, Oklahoma – Before the season started, all of Metro Christian’s seniors sat down to set some goals for the team. The top priority, making it into the playoffs with a perfect 10-0 record.
Mission accomplished.
The Patriots steamrolled the 3A competition en route to a spotless mark and will host a first round playoffs game this Friday. The Patriots know this season, they have a shot at something special.
“Everybody wants to win now,” said Patriots head coach Jared McCoy. “We definitely want to improve defensively and just play with effort.”
Explosive offense is the key for Metro Christian. The Patriots average over 43 points per game and are holding opponents to just under 21. The Patriots can win shootouts or nail-biters. Metro Christian won six games by seven points or less and three games by more than 45.
“You’re always improving as a football team,” said McCoy. “We feel very good about where we are offensively. We’re playing good football but every week you have to go out and perform.”
Metro Christian will host Dewey in round one this weekend. The Bulldoggers come in as the four seed after finishing 4-3 in district play. Dewey lost two of its last three games and allowed at least 25 points in all three contests.
The winner will take on the winner of Pauls Valley and Clinton in round two.
