NORMAN, Oklahoma – After falling behind 14-0, the Norman Tigers scored 34 unanswered points to beat the Westmoore Jaguars Friday.
Westmoore (3-5, 2-3) scored two quick touchdowns thanks to a fumble by the Tigers inside their own 20-yard line, but it was all Norman from then on.
Norman (4-4, 3-2) got on the board with a 48-yard touchdown pass by Chad Anderson, and then a 60-yard punt return by Jamie Myers tied the score at 14 going into halftime.
The game continued to be a stalemate through the third quarter, but the momentum shifted in Norman’s favor thanks to a huge goal-line stand.
With the score still tied at 14 early in the fourth quarter, Westmoore had a fourth-and-goal on the one-yard line. Norman stuffed the next play, then responded by going on a 99-yard drive that ended with a touchdown run by Chad Anderson to take a 21-14 lead.
Jamie Myers then broke his second long punt return of the night to set up another touchdown run by Anderson for a 28-14 Norman lead. The Tigers finished things off with a touchdown pass from Anderson to Seth Zimmer for the 34-14 win.
The win gives Norman two in a row, but thing will get tougher. The Tigers’ next game will be Oct. 30 against first-place Midwest City (6-2, 5-0).
