HELENA, Oklahoma -- Timberlake High School reloads once again. The Tigers return their entire defense from a team that lost just once in the semifinals to eventual state champion Shattuck (then again who has not). With so much talent coming back head coach Brian Severin knows the target is on the Tigers back.
“Last year I think we surprised some people and this year I don’t think we’ll be able to do that,” Severin said. “The boys just have to be prepared mentally every week.”
Timberlake retains all but one starter on offense. Speedy tailback Johnny Ketterman, who won the Class A 100 & 200 meter dasheslast year,is expected to balance out the passing attack led by quarterbackJake Bowers.
Two of the 1,500 yard passers top targets are back including Austin Reuss and Drew Fisher. They are three of the 10 seniors dressing this year for the Wildcats, and coach Severin can sense something special at practice.
“Everyday those boys are already tired of pratice, they’re ready to start the games,” Severin said. “They want another shot a Shattuck. If we’re going to do it, it better be this year.”
