TULSA, Oklahoma – As a team with a recent reputation for putting up big numbers, the Drillers didn't exactly live up to that rep on Sunday.
Tulsa suffered a 5-1 loss to the Arkansas Travelers, dropping it down into a tie for first place in the North Division standings with Northwest Arkansas.
The Drillers shut out the Travelers the previous night, but on Sunday got a bit of their own medicine.
Arkansas pitcher Matt Shoemaker threw seven innings and gave up Tulsa's only run while picking up the win.
Tulsa's lone score came in the bottom of the fourth inning when Lars Davis grounded out to bring home Bronson Sardinha. But by that point, the Drillers were already down 4-1.
Pitcher Dan Houston struggled on the mound for the Drillers, giving up four runs in four innings.
The teams will meet again at 7:05 p.m. Monday in Tulsa.
