Bartlesville's Price Tower Is Finalist To Become World Heritage Site

The Price Tower in Bartlesville says it has been nominated to become a World Heritage Site.

BARTLESVILLE, Oklahoma -- An Oklahoma landmark could join a list of global icons like the Egyptian Pyramids, the Great Wall of China and the Statue of Liberty.

The Price Tower in Bartlesville has been nominated to become a World Heritage Site.

The Price Tower is the only skyscraper Frank Lloyd Wright ever built.

The National Park Service submitted the Price Tower along with nine other Wright buildings it considers to be "culturally significant."

The other Frank Lloyd Wright properties nominated include:

  • Taliesin West, Scottsdale, Arizona
  • Hollyhock House, Los Angeles, California
  • Marin County Civic Center, San Rafael, California
  • Unity Temple, Oak Park, Illinois
  • Frederick C. Robie House, Chicago, Illinois
  • Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, New York
  • Fallingwater, Mill Run, Pennsylvania
  • Herbert and Katherine Jacobs House, Madison, Wisconsin
  • S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc., Administration Building and Research Tower, Racine, Wisconsin
  • Taliesin, Spring Green, Wisconsin

The final decision on the list will be made by the World Heritage Committee sometime next year.
