SPRINGFIELD, Missouri – The Tulsa Drillers won their second straight game with a 6-3 road decision against the Springfield Cardinals on Sunday.
Thomas Field got things started quickly for Tulsa, sending his ninth homer of the year over the left field wall.
Scott Beerer followed suit in the top of the second with a solo homer of his own, increasing the Drillers lead to 2-0.
Beerer and Holcomb both picked up RBIs in the fifth inning to make the lead 4-0 before the Cardinals could even get on the board.
James Cesario had two doubles and two RBIs in the game for Tulsa.
Christian Friedrich gave up 10 hits and all three runs but picked up the win on the mound for the Drillers.
Tulsa will play one more at Springfield at 12:07 p.m. on Tuesday before the All-Star break.
