TULSA, Oklahoma -- A woman fired shots into the ceiling of a motel during an armed robbery late Friday night in northeast Tulsa. The woman robbed the Airport LaQuinta Inn at 23 North 67th East Ave.
Sergeant Eric Nelson with the Tulsa Police Department said the robber entered the hotel at about 11:30 p.m. dressed in all black, wearing a blue bandana and sunglasses.
"As the clerk was getting the money, the black female fired three rounds inside the hotel, just kind of into the ceiling, to try to get the clerk to react faster," he said.
After getting the cash, the robber left the hotel on foot going northbound. Police K9 officers tracked her about 150 to 200 yards then lost the scent. They found the bandana and the sunglasses where the track ended.
The woman bandit is described as a black female in her early 20s, about 5'4" tall and 165 pounds. She was carrying a red pillowcase over her hand and gun before she fired the shots into the ceiling.
When asked, Nelson said it is unusual to have a woman commit an armed robbery.
No injuries were reported.
