TULSA, Oklahoma -- A Land Rover Discovery took an unexpected off road trip Friday morning in rush hour traffic. The crash took place near the exit from northbound U.S. Highway 75 to eastbound Interstate 44 at about 7:15 a.m.
The Land Rover went off the highway – about 100 yards – just before the ramp to I-44. News On 6 Sky Cam network zoomed in on the wreck.
"He buried that thing way off the road and down the hill, probably slid down the grass," said John Filbeck of KRMG. "Not sure how fast he was going."
The driver told police while he was northbound on Highway 75 someone threw a plastic cup at him. He looked down then when he looked back up, there was a bottleneck of traffic right in front of him. He swerved to the right to avoid rear ending another car.
Police say the Land Rover went over 400 feet down the grass slope where it struck a tree and spun into a second tree.
The driver refused medical treatment at the scene.
