TULSA – The Drillers' deliberate pace and solid pitching served them well this time around.
Tulsa pounded out a solid 2-0 victory on Monday night against Northwest Arkansas thanks to an impressive all-around pitching performance.
Drillers pitchers Christian Friedrich, Joe Torres and Daniel Turpin combined to allow just four hits in the entire game.
Friedrich got the win with six innings on the mound, giving up three hits.
It didn't take much offense from Tulsa to pick up the win, but it got what it needed thanks to a pair of RBI doubles.
The first one came in the bottom of the fourth inning, when Darin Holcomb doubled to bring home Ben Paulsen for a 1-0 lead.
That lone run would have done the job, but Tulsa got some insurance from Wilin Rosario in the eighth as he doubled to bring home Holcomb.
The teams will continue their series at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday in Tulsa.
