TULSA, Oklahoma -- A disabled veteran who's learning to walk again is getting a helping hand from some college-bound kids.

Volunteers with Rogers State University's Upward Bound program headed to West Tulsa to paint his home Friday.  Upward Bound helps high school kids get ready for college and at the same time teaches them how to be a better neighbor.

"I didn't know how I'd feel about painting a house in the heat in June, but it does feel really good to help someone who can't do it on their own. I'm glad I'm helping," Kessiah Neff, a volunteer, said.

Friday's project is just one of many with Rebuilding Together's Heroes at Home program. The goal is to help disabled veterans with home projects they aren't able to do anymore.
