TULSA, Oklahoma -- The demolition of the westbound I-244 bridge over the Arkansas River in Tulsa is underway.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation closed down the bridge over a week ago and crews are now tearing down the structure to make room for a state-of-the-art double deck bridge.

The new bridge will not only allow vehicular traffic but rail and pedestrian traffic on the lower level.

Crews are currently removing the concrete road surface.
