TULSA, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma's soldiers serving overseas will get some extra goodies thanks to a generous donation. Reasors gave the Blue Star Mothers a check for $7,000 Friday.
The grocer raised the money with its Scoops for Troops program where folks could buy a scoop of ice cream for a buck.
The money helps pay for the Freedom boxes Blue Star Mothers sends giving troops a little piece of home. And, the organization says it can really use the money right now.
"Donations were down a little bit compared to last year. Just need to get out there and get in the public and say we need donations, financial donations and the donations that we put in our boxes," Blue Star Mother, Kay Sleeper, said.
The organization says there is about $50 - $80 worth of goods put into each box.
You can make a financial donation to the Oklahoma chapter of the Blue Star Mothers by going to their website or call 918-599-9988.
