MUSKOGEE COUNTY -- Members of the Oklahoma Board of Education voted Thursday morning for mandatory annexation of the Boynton-Moton school district.

Thursday's unanimous vote follows a vote by the board on March 24, 2011 to remove the Muskogee County school district's state accreditation.

As a result of the earlier vote, the school district was no longer recognized by the state Department of Education.

Thursday's vote started the process for dividing the assets and debts of the Boyton-Moton school district between Midway Public Schools and Haskell Public Schools.

Boynton is located southwest of Muskogee on U.S. Highway 62.
