I just saw Justin Hurtt over on the TU campus tonight and asked him if he was excited about going to play in the Portsmouth InvitationalTournament on Thursday. He was pumped. He said he was going to call Ben Uzoh tonight to chat about it. Uzoh played in the tournament last year and really impressed NBA scouts. Uzoh also performed well in the NBA summer league.

I think that Hurtt has a shot to make an NBA roster. His ability in college to rise up over defenders and get his own shot was second to none. I like his quickness, even though at times it looks like he's not moving at full speed. He always seems to get where he needs to be in time and always hit the big shot for Tulsa this year.

At 6-foot-4, I could see him playing a role similar to J.J.Redick in Orlando. He was a great scorer in college. Hurtt isn't the same type of player on that level of competition. One was a spot-up sniper and one can create for himself. I still think he has the chance to do the same thing for a team that Redick has done for the Magic.

Hurtt can hit 3s. He can slash. I think it's important for him to play well in the P.I.T. this week. If he does, maybe some GMs in the league will think about picking him up in the draft this summer. Uzoh didn't get drafted but still made the league. I think that Hurtt will have a good shot at getting drafted, maybe in the second round. In case you're wondering, Redickis making $7.25 million this year. Not bad at all.
