Im tired of talking about fouls. Regardless of whether there were questionable whistles that didnt go the Cowboys way in Waco there were too many whistles stopping play. OSU committed 16 first half fouls, and about half of them were the kind that can make you scratch your head- unnecessary plays either far away from the basket or on the other side of the court from the ball.
Travis Ford told his team more than once prior to Saturdays game that he spoke with the man in charge of Big 12 officials, Curtis Shaw. Shaw told Ford that his players should "show your hands" to keep from picking up fouls, in other words dont put their hands on offensive players when it comes to fighting for position. That problem was the number one issue in Waco. Too many hands not being shown.
There were also too many missed shots, but thats harder to control. The Cowboys needed consistency in attacking the basket and challenging Baylor when the Bears had the ball. It would have helped to have their best players on the floor for more minutes while attempting to do just that, but its hard to accomplish when things go a-foul.
Texas comes to Stillwater next with a head full of steam. Hopefully the Cowboys can slow the Longhorns down...without using their hands.
