Mike Leach loves to confound. Now, on his depth chart for this week's Texas Tech-OSU game in Stillwater, Leach has listed Taylor Potts and Steven Sheffield as co-number 1 quarterbacks. The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports that Potts got two-thirds of the snaps Wednesday while Sheffield got the other third, hinting that Potts will be the starter against the Cowboys. Sheffield hadn't even been practicing since undergoing foot surgery in mid-October until this week, and he's been the most effective of 3 Red Raider signal callers this season.
The reality is that Tech will do the same things on offense, no matter who's throwing the ball, and it will be up to OSU defenders to make tackles. Tech's attack is best in yards after catch, something Houston accomplished with great success against the Cowboys in week 2. The Red Raiders love to try and create what looks like chaos, but their scheme is pretty simple. The Cowboys' challenge is simple. Tackle the man with the ball.
