LUBBOCK, Texas – For the second straight game, Oklahoma State gave up double-digit runs.
But this time, it actually cost the Cowboys.
Texas Tech beat OSU 11-7 on Saturday evening, leaving Sunday’s regular season finale to decide the currently-split series.
On Friday, Oklahoma State allowed the Red Raiders 10 runs but scored 11 to pull off the win.
OSU jumped out quickly again on Saturday, homering on the first and third at-bats of the game to take a 2-0 lead.
Hunter Bailey drove in Davis Duren in the first inning as well to make the lead 3-0. OSU had four home runs on the day despite the loss.
But Tech responded with three runs in the bottom of the first and another in the second to quickly regain the lead.
Those four runs were part of 11 straight unanswered runs for the Red Raiders.
By the end of the fifth inning, Tech led 11-3.
Oklahoma State tried to rally starting in the sixth inning. Mark Ginther homered in the sixth, and Zach Johnson added another home run in the seventh to pull back to 11-5.
In the ninth inning, Duren singled up the middle, scoring two, but it was not enough to rally all the way back against Tech’s lead.
Brad Probst had a rough day on the mound for Oklahoma State, giving up eight hits and seven runs in 3.2 innings in the loss. Trey Masek got the win for Texas Tech.
The two teams will wrap up the series Sunday at 1 p.m. in Lubbock.
