OKLAHOMA CITY -- Several big names were in attendance Saturday in Oklahoma City as a statue honoring Oklahoma Heisman winner Sam Bradford was unveiled at what head coach Bob Stoops called the “Oklahoma Academy Awards.”
Bradford was enshrined as part of the Sooners’ efforts to honor their all-time greats in Heisman Park near Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma – which will be the statue’s final resting place. He will join Heisman winners Billy Vessels, Steve Owens, Billy Sims and Jason White in the monument to Oklahoma winners.
The Putnam City North graduate claimed the trophy for his sophomore campaign in 2008, after passing for 4,464 yards, 48 touchdowns and just six interceptions, while completing 68 percent of his passes.
