IRVING, Texas—The Big 12 conference announced a date change to the 2011 Big 12 football schedule which results in Oklahoma facing Iowa State on Saturday November 26.
The conference announced the change Thursday saying it was agreed upon by both institutions.
The Cyclones will travel to Oklahoma for the Saturday showdown instead of the previously scheduled date of November 12.
The moves were made to facilitate possible television opportunities. Game times will be announced at a later date.
“We appreciate the patience of our fans as we completed this process,” said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics and Athletics Joe Castiglione. “We encountered unusual circumstances this year, but those circumstances were unavoidable. We now feel like we have a schedule that provides good rhythm and continuity for our fans and team, and yet still provides great exposure for us through television.”
The Sooners schedule for Thanksgiving weekend was open after the conference decided to move the annual bedlam game to December 3.
The changes all come in the wake of the conference being reduced to 10 teams instead of 12.
As a result of Oklahoma’s schedule change, the OSU Cowboys will face Iowa State one day earlier on November 18 which gives OSU more than two weeks to prepare for bedlam.
Another change to the schedule comes for Iowa State which will wrap up its regular season December 3 at Kansas State instead of originally scheduled November 26.
