OKLAHOMA CITY – The RedHawks’ series against Nashville got off to a solid start with a grind-it-out 2-1 victory on Monday in OKC.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Oklahoma City.
Douglas Arguello put on an impressive performance on the mound for OKC, throwing six innings and giving up two hits and one run.
There wasn’t much offense in the game, but OKC executed effectively out of the gate.
Jose Vallejo scored on a hectic play in the bottom of the first to give his team a 1-0 lead.
Nashville’s only run of the game came in the top of the next inning, when Josh Butler grounded out to score Caleb Gindl and knot the game.
Arguello, the game’s MVP, came through at the plate as well. In the fourth inning, he sent a sacrifice fly to left field to score Tommy Manzella.
It proved to be the winning run in the game to go along with his impressive pitching performance.
The final five innings remained scoreless as OKC registered just four hits on the day and Nashville just two.
The series will continue Tuesday in Oklahoma City at 7:05 p.m.
