COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Oklahoma State baseball team suffered its first series sweep of the season thanks to an 8-1 blowout at the hands of Texas A&M Sunday.

The Cowboys jumped on the board first with an RBI single by Jared Womack in the top of the first inning. They carried that 1-0 lead into the fourth inning, when the Texas A&M offense began its assault.

The Aggies tied the game with an RBI single by Adam Smith, but they waited until the sixth to really unleash the fury. After starting the sixth with a single, A&M called for a sacrifice bunt to move the go-ahead run into scoring position. But Krey Bratson managed to outrun the throw for a bunt single.

Since it worked out so well the first time, the Aggies called for another sacrifice bunt. And again they got the same result, as Jacob House legged out the throw to load the bases with nobody out. Matt Juengel took advantage with a two-run single to take the lead 3-1.

The Cowboys pulled starting pitcher Hunter Herrera after that hit and brought in Chris Marlowe. Marlowe struck out the first batter he faced, but he served up a three-run home run to Kevin Gonzalez in the next at-bat that gave the Aggies five runs in the inning and a 6-1 lead.

Texas A&M added runs in each of the next two innings thanks to Tyler Naquin putting on a show. He led off the seventh inning with a home run, and then drove home another run in the eighth with a triple. He finished the game just a double shy of hitting for the cycle.

The loss ended an ugly series for the Cowboys, who fell in all three games by a combined score of 24-4. They will try to get back on the right track in their next game on the road at Wichita State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
