STILLWATER, Okla. – It took OSU a little while to avoid a scare on Tuesday evening, but the Cowboys finally came through.
Oklahoma State knocked off the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans 9-6 on Tuesday, but needed a late-game rally to do it.
The Cowboys started quickly to say the least, with Devin Shines homering on OSU’s first at-bat of the game.
After three more runs in the bottom of the second, it appeared that Oklahoma State was on its way to an easy win, but UALR began to chip away slowly.
The Trojans scored on a wild pitch and a passed ball from the Cowboys in the third.
After OSU added another run in the bottom of the third, UALR knocked in two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to take a 6-5 lead.
But the Cowboys seemed to turn it on when they knew they had to.
Davis Duren drove in Dane Phillips to tie the game at 6, and Mark Ginther followed that up in the next at-bat with a three-run home run to all but seal the game.
Hunter Herrera picked up the win for Oklahoma State, throwing 2.1 innings and giving up one hit.
Shines, Zach Johnson and Duren racked up two hits each for OSU.
The Cowboys (25-8) will get the Bedlam series going on Friday in Tulsa. First pitch for the game is set for 7:35 p.m.
