STILLWATER, Okla. – OSU needed a tune-up game, and that’s exactly what it got against Missouri State on Tuesday.

After two losses to the Texas Longhorns, the Cowgirls responded with an 11-2 non-conference win against the Bears in Stillwater.

Morgan Hawkins got the win in the circle for OSU, pitching three innings and giving up four hits and one run.

Missouri State actually started the scoring in the game, scoring on an RBI double and a passed ball to go up 2-0.

But Oklahoma State responded in a big way, racking up six runs in the bottom of the second inning.

Ashley Boyd blasted a two-run homer and a barrage of errors from the Bears in the inning gave OSU a 6-2 lead.

OSU third baseman Mariah Gearhart also became the school's all-time leader in stolen bases during the inning, picking up her 109th.

The Cowgirls’ Chelsea Garcia racked up a two-run home run of her own in the fourth, and also picked up an RBI and a run in the sixth to help OSU end the game early.

Garcia picked up three hits, four RBIs and two runs in the game.

Tamara Brown and Ari Morrison also had three hits each.

OSU will return to Big 12 action when it hosts Kansas at 5 p.m. on Saturday in Stillwater.
