SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Oral Roberts coach Rob Walton picked up win No. 300 for his career on Sunday with an 11-7 victory against San Diego State.

Walton is third all-time on ORU’s career wins list and is 300-131 as head coach. Walton nearly picked up his 300th win on Saturday but the Golden Eagles dropped a heartbreaker in 14 innings.

On Sunday, however, SDSU did Oral Roberts plenty of favors, especially on the mound.

San Diego State (9-19) pitchers gave up 15 walks in the game.

Brandon King and Chris Elder each walked four times in the game, and every ORU batter in the starting lineup picked up at least one walk except for Cam Schiller.

Schiller did his part swinging the bat, however, combining with teammate Spencer Barnett for seven RBIs.

ORU picked up a 2-0 lead early, but saw it quickly diminished. The Aztecs picked up six runs in the bottom of the first inning, including a three-run homer from Cody Smith.

Not to be outdone, however, the Golden Eagles bounced back with five runs in the top of the second. Two of them thanks to the Aztec pitching staff on bases-loaded walks, and ORU held a 7-6 lead after just 1.5 innings.

Freshman Brad Fisher, who got his first career start for ORU, was relieved in the second after giving up six runs in the first by Dan Martony (1-0), who took control of the game.

He allowed just one run in the next six innings before leaving in the seventh.

Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles (10-11) picked up runs in the fourth, sixth and eighth to seal the victory.

Oral Roberts will next head to Arkansas-Little Rock for a 6 p.m. start time on Tuesday.
