OU’s Garrett Buechele Named Player of the Week
The Oklahoma third baseman slugged his way to this week’s conference honor.

IRVING, Texas—Oklahoma’s Garrett Buechele was named the Big 12 Baseball Player of the Week after a big performance in the season opening sweep of William & Mary.
The third baseman hit a home fun in each of the first three games batting 10-for-16 for a .625 with three home runs, five RBI’s and four runs scored.
The junior All-American also walked twice and was hit by a pitch on two occasions against William & Mary.
This week’s honor is the second of Buechele’s career and he leads the Big 12 in total bases (19), hits (10) and home runs (3).
In the season opener, Buechele singled in his first at-bat and homered in his second to finish 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
He duplicated the performance during Saturday's doubleheader with four hits, including two homers and three RBIs.
Buechele had a season-high four base hits and also reached on a hit by pitch in Sunday's series finale.
The Big 12 also named Texas’ Taylor Jungmann the Pitcher of the Week and Texas Tech’s Kelby Tomlinson the Newcomer of the Week.
Oklahoma takes the field again Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m. against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
