NORMAN, Oklahoma -- With its season opener looming, the Oklahoma Sooners baseball team held its annual media day Wednesday.
After a season that ended in a 12-inning, 3-2 loss at the hands of the South Carolina Gamecocks in the College World Series, the Sooners are ready to get back on the diamond and get back to the CWS.
“We’re all hungry. We all knew what we had to work on [in the offseason] and everybody’s mentality is through the roof,” infielder Cameron Seitzer said. “We do not want to be defeated again. We don’t ever want to experience it again.
Oklahoma heads into the season as the preseason selection to claim a Big 12 title, something that has eluded the Sooners for the last 15 seasons. Despite the accolades, the players don’t feel any sort of added confidence as the season approaches.
“Right now there isn’t much swagger, especially with the inter-squad [scrimmages] being balanced,” catcher Tyler Ogle said. “We haven’t played our first game yet, so we won’t really know until we get back out on the field.”
