NEW YORK -- Both Oklahoma City point guard Russell Westbrook and Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin were named to their first NBA All-Star Team Thursday when the reserves for the 2011 NBA All-Star Game were announced.
Westbrook has proven that Oklahoma City isn’t a one-star team this season, ranking 14th in the league with 22.4 points per game. The third-year point guard also averages 8.5 assists per contest, good enough for eighth in the NBA.
In his first year on the court, Griffin has made an immediate impact for the Clippers. The former Oklahoma star averages 23 points per game – 12th in the league and best among rookies - and 12.7 rebounds per game, ranking fourth overall. Griffin's selection makes him the first rookie to be named an All-Star since Houston's Yao Ming in 2003.
