TULSA, Oklahoma – The good news keeps coming for the Tulsa football team.
Over the last week, the Golden Hurricane have named a new head coach and started to put their coaching staff together.
Now, as national signing day approaches, TU is finding out that several of their recruits are honoring their commitment to Tulsa.
Oklahoma Sports has been checking in with Tulsa’s recruits, and the news has been mostly good.
Mansfield (TX) Timberview WR Chaz Sampson committed to Tulsa in July. We received an email from his coach on Wednesday that said, “Chaz took an official visit to Tulsa last weekend and he really enjoyed the trip. As far as I know, he is committed to Tulsa.”
Austin (TX) McCallum ATH Michael Sorrells made his commitment to TU in December. Over the last 2 weeks, there have been reports that he was considering Pitt after Todd Graham took over the Panthers program. But, his high school coach tells us, “Michael is still committed to Tulsa. He was contacted by Pitt, but told them that he was not interested and that he was staying with Tulsa.”
The final recruit that Oklahoma Sports checked in with on Wednesday was Lake Travis (TX) WR Conner Floyd. Floyd committed to Tulsa over the summer, but when we talked to his coach 2 weeks ago, he told us that Conner wanted to wait and see how the coaching situation at TU shook out. On Wednesday, we heard from his coach again. And he told us, “Conner is very excited about heading to Tulsa. He can’t wait to sign on February 2nd.”
National signing day is on February 2nd. And Oklahoma Sports will continue to check in with recruits as we get closer to that big day.
