NORMAN, Oklahoma – The University of Oklahoma will play its annual spring football game on Saturday, April 16.
The kickoff time and ticket information will be released at a later date.
As it stands right now, the Sooners are tentatively scheduled to begin their spring drills on Tuesday, March 8 and Oklahoma will welcome back 29 position players to the team who had at least one start from last season.
Fifteen of those returning players are on offense, including consensus All-American Ryan Broyles, the school’s all-time leading receiver.
Linebacker Travis Lewis leads the 14 defensive returnees. Lewis has led OU in tackles in each of the past three seasons, and cornerback Jamell Fleming, who ranked No. 2 nationally last season in passes defended, is also returning.
Oklahoma is coming off its seventh Big 12 Championship in the past 11 seasons. The 2010 Sooners were 12-2 and capped the year with a 48-20 win over Connecticut in the 40th Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
The Sooners open Big 12 Conference play Oct. 10 against Texas in the Red River Rivalry in Dallas.
